Climbing Camp
Crystal Lake, MI
June 27 – 29, 2008 |
|
|
| |
This camp is the perfect preparation for any hilly races or tours that you
may have planned for the summer season, or if you just want to be the first
up that tough hill on your next group ride. You will experience three days
and five training rides on the pristine roads of Benzie County surrounded by
the beauty of Crystal and Lake Michigan shorelines. The terrain and quiet
roads offer the ideal training conditions for you to challenge yourself as a
cyclist and become a more effective climber.

|
The camp is highlighted by utilizing the 7.4-mile Pierce Stocking Drive
located within the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lake Shore. One loop around
the circuit, including 10-14% grade climbs, exhilarating descents, beautiful
views of Lake Michigan, and it's no surprise that Bicycling Magazine
included this cycling haven in their top 100 hills in America.

You will first evaluate your strengths and weaknesses as a climber with the
opening hill time trial where we will determine your individual power ranges
to be used throughout the rest of the camp. You will learn the correct
climbing techniques and principles which you can then put to use during the
camp's innovative, fun, and effective climbing workouts -- all using power
as your guide. The camp will culminate with a long endurance training ride
where you will be able to apply all of your new climbing skills.
You will leave this camp a more confident climber having learned your most
comfortable climbing position, best climbing cadence, most powerful climbing
gear, the correct standing and sprinting techniques, and the safest way to
descend. |
