Little 500 Camp
Brown County, IN
April 18 – 20, 2008

Get ready this spring for a cycling fantasy weekend. Three days of training on some of the most beautiful and challenging roads in the Midwest, combined with the excitement of seeing one of the oldest races in the country made famous by the movie Breaking Away, the Little 500 at Indiana University.

This camp will operate out of the quaint town of Nashville, Indiana and the surrounding roads of Brown County. These roads gained the respect from some of the top riders in the world when they were part of the 1987 Pan American Road Race.

It’s early in the season so the camp emphasis will be on revisiting some cycling basics. We’ll focus on the fundamentals of group riding, bike handling, and climbing and put in some productive foundation miles.

In addition to the great spring training, you’ll get VIP treatment at the 2008 Little 500 bike races. You’ll be transported Friday afternoon to Bloomington to watch the women’s race and Saturday for the 57th running of the men’s race. Our group will have the best seats in the house and, with over 20,000 in attendance, that’s key. After the men’s race, we’ll have a group dinner in downtown Bloomington and a chance to enjoy the beauty of the Indiana University campus.

It should be a great weekend with some enjoyable spring riding, valuable instruction and the experience of watching one of America’s premier cycling events.

Bicycling magazine says: "In the heart of the thick forest of southern Indiana's Brown County State Park (the Hoosier State's largest state park) lives a cycling refuge--70 miles of trails for mountain bikers (and hikers and equestrians) and a tangled ribbon of little-trafficked roads. Horseman's Camp and its approach attract a respected clientele of riders. Indiana University cyclists train in the park for the legendary Little 500 (popularized in the movie Breaking Away), and in 1987, Brown County was judged worthy of hosting the road race for the Pan American Games.

It's a short climb, but watch out you don't go blind on the section with a 19 percent grade. You'll also get an eyeful in fall, when the foliage show is perhaps the best in Indiana. Unfortunately, the roads also become saturated--with traffic and tourists."
